The 2012 Toyota Sequoia is a full size truck based SUV. This massive vehicle is commanding and impressive yet offers comfortable seating, graceful handling and ride quality. The Sequoia is as masculine as it can get. It comes in three body trims, the SR5, Limited and Platinum. The façade features a chrome grille, tall hood and a high beltline. 18-inch alloy wheels are standard as well as multi-reflector halogen headlamps, fog lamps and power tilt/slide moon roof with sliding sunshade. Also standard are color-keyed heated mirrors, roof rails, windshield wiper de-icer, running boards, privacy glass, color-keyed rear spoiler with LED center and color-keyed door handles.
The interior is immense with matte-metallic plastic trims. It integrates the chunky exterior and has large controls and displays. Automatic tri-zone front and rear climate control with air filter, eight-speaker audio system with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth technology, multi-informational display, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and 4-way adjustable front passenger seats are all standard. It can seat up to 8 passengers; 7 for models with captain’s chairs.
40/20/40 split, sliding, reclining, fold-flat second row seats are included and third row is accessed with one-touch. The third row have 60/40 split, reclining, fold-flat seat with folding headrests so you have more room in case of additional cargo.
Upgrading to the top of the line Platinum gives better ride quality with adaptive shock absorbers and adaptive cruise control. Navigation system with touch screen interface is optional.
The 2012 Sequoia is offered in two V8 engine options. Both are combined with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. The base model comes with 4.6 Liter V8 with 310 horsepower and 327 lb. ft. torque. Limited and Platinum comes with a more powerful 5.7 Liter V8 that makes 381 hp and 401 lb. ft torque. It’s ideal for hauling and towing with the 5.7’s towing capability of 7,400 pounds.
